After full consultation with all the stakeholders, including the clinicians within the A&E Department, S I Sealy worked night shifts to survey the A&E Department to establish and create a set of as built M&E drawing information. These surveys enabled decisions on the proposed design solutions to be made with confidence that the adjacent spaces would be able to operate as normal without interruption.
The main electrical services, including the central departmental distribution boards, were all replaced without any down-time to the existing A&E Department. This involved S I Sealy working with the key stakeholders and the other members of the design team to establish small enabling works and temporary solutions to allow the transition. Other services which were fully replaced, such as the medical gases, domestic water services and heating services, were all maintained whilst a new purpose-designed system was installed in tandem with the existing system. Spatial assessments were completed to ensure all solutions were practically achievable.
