S I Sealy appointed to £1 billion offsite school’s framework
S I Sealy is proud to announce that as part of the Spatial Initiative team we will be providing Building Services Engineering for a number of primary & secondary schools through the new DfE offsite framework, known as MMC1, Lot 2. This framework focuses on delivering the next generation of off-site schools focusing on modern methods of construction. The programme aims to build around 30 schools a year with a projected pipeline of up to £3 billion over the next 4 years. The MMC School framework has been split between two Lots, a £2 billion programme of primary and secondary school projects over 6,000 m2 known as Lot 1 and a £1 billion programme of primary and secondary schools under 6,000m2 known as Lot 2.
The offsite framework aims to deliver schools below the current target cost, reduce risk, maximise energy-efficient design and reduce delivery time. A big factor in winning a place on the MMC1 framework was SI Sealy’s expertise in minimising overheating in MMC schools whilst maximising natural ventilation and daylight, demonstrated by achieving Part L, TM52 & CBDM compliance.
SI Sealy will be working with Spatial Initiative (a joint venture between Styles & Wood and ESS Modular) to deliver a range of primary and secondary schools between 750m2 and 6,000m2. S I Sealy have delivered several MMC School projects recently such as Paxton Primary School in Lambeth, Whitehall Park Primary School in Highgate, Northmoor Academy and Hollinwood Academy in Oldham and Highcliffe Primary school in Birstall, which was one of the first schools to be built under the Department of Education’s modular primary school building framework. We are also currently working with Spatial Initiative on several MMC schools in the design stage.
