S I Sealy supports the NHS Nightingale Projects

Over the Easter bank holiday weekend S I Sealy assisted the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust with a technical review of the MEP installation by IHP, a joint venture between Sir Robert McAlpine and Vinci Construction at the NHS Nightingale Hospital housed within Manchester Central. 

The Grade II* listed venue is part of Manchester Central’s exhibition and conference complex, a former railway station opened in 1880, which became an events venue in 1982.  The building’s main hall is divided into 18 wards, underneath a 64 metre wrought-iron single-span arched roof, one of the widest unsupported iron arches in the world.

Our team witnessed an amazing amount of true collaboration and teamwork by all involved with the project which led to the successful handover on Monday 13th April 2020 of the new 750 Bed Field Hospital in Manchester, just two weeks after work began.

In addition on Friday 24th April 2020 work finished at a mini Nightingale facility housed at The University of Central Lancashire’s Sir Tom Finney Sports Centre.  This 150 bed community recovery centre will be activated should the Royal Preston Hospital require additional beds due to COVID-19.  We provided a technical review of the MEP installation, as well as a Legionella risk assessment.
