St Anthony’s Parish Church, Wythenshawe

Our team were commissioned by AEW Architects to deliver the new build Presbytery and Community hub for the Grade II Listed St Anthony’s Parish Church in Wythenshawe. The project involves the demolition of the existing Presbytery and Community Hub, which was conducted as part of an earlier enabling works package. During the construction phase, our team have conducted site monitoring duties and monitored the compliance of the MEP installations as the works progressed.

The three-storey Presbytery includes a Parish Office, lounge, dining room, kitchen, two bedrooms with an ensuite on the first floor, and two bedrooms on the second floor with a shared bathroom. Connected to the Presbytery is the single-storey community hub with a central hall, vestibule, kitchen, lounge and bar area with a social club.

We provided the detailed MEP design for the new buildings and conducted a SAP & BRUKL report in line with Part L compliance assessment. To enhance the performance of the building, our team also advised recommendations to outperform the Part L targets to the client. By analysing the Presbytery’s heating and hot water requirements, the design utilises a combined gas-fired condensing boiler and water heater with a heat exchanger. This technology provides hot water and heating by a single unit efficiently, with any heat lost from the heating module recovered to the domestic hot water.

The electrical infrastructure was upgraded, and its capacity increased to serve the Presbytery, community hub and external lighting in the surrounding areas. Both the Presbytery and Community Hub was officially handed over in June 2021.
