Gwyn Jones retires after 45 years in the industry
Gwyn Jones will be retiring from his role as Senior Building Services Design Coordinator after more than three years with S I Sealy, bringing to a close a very rewarding 45-year career in the industry.
Gwyn began his career in 1979, pursuing a degree in Building Services Engineering at Northumbria University while also working as a student engineer at Building Design Partnership. This practice, under the leadership of Sir George Grenfell Baines, was a pioneer in establishing multi-disciplinary design consultancy services.
After graduating, Gwyn worked at several leading consultancies, developing his design and project management skills, particularly in the life sciences and healthcare sectors, over a period of 20 years. In 2002, he was promoted to a director-level position and went on to manage the Northwest regional offices of two consultancies. His career culminated in heading the multi-disciplinary design division at Atkins.
Since joining S I Sealy in 2021, Gwyn has played a key role in improving MEP project management and design coordination, sharing his valuable expertise and extensive knowledge along the way.
Gwyn commented, “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with S I Sealy, I wish the directors, and all the staff continued success and the best for the future.”
He noted that the highlight of his career has been working on various life science projects at the University of Manchester. These included the design of the Manchester Biosciences Incubator Building and the Core Technology Facility, as well as the Integrative Centre for Molecular Cell Biology. All these buildings are dedicated to world-class life sciences research.
David Stafford, Director commented, “Gwyn has been an integral part of S I Sealy since he joined us, playing a key role in the day-to-day management of our projects and consistently delivering outstanding results for our clients. He will be greatly missed by us all, and we wish him a long and happy retirement.”
