S I Sealy providing engineering design for Extraspace Solutions

Extraspace Solutions is a leading provider of modular and prefabricated buildings for a broad spectrum of sectors in the UK and Ireland.

Extraspace has been awarded a contract for six school extensions for Hertfordshire County Council, which will start on site in April and are due to complete in September 2013.  S I Sealy will provide the building services engineering designs for these extensions.

Two of the extensions are two storey and will provide six new classrooms each; and the other four will provide between two and four classrooms each.  Each of the extensions includes a toilet block and independent boilers.

Four of the extensions will include cutting-edge “Breathing Buildings” technology.  This technology, which was developed by a University of Cambridge spin-out company, uses highly sustainable fan assisted natural ventilation with heat recovery techniques.  Use of this technology will satisfy the guidance on providing ventilation and avoiding overheating in school buildings – BB101.
