Duo at S I Sealy Celebrating 70 Years’ Service
Two members of the team at Stockport based building services engineering design consultancy, S I Sealy & Associates, have this week celebrated a total of 70 years’ service. Phil Murphy, Technical Director is celebrating 40 years at the firm; whilst Director, Steve Dale is celebrating 30 years.
Phil joined the firm in 1975, straight from school, as a trainee mechanical services design engineer. He is now a member of S I Sealy’s Board of Management and heads up the firm’s Healthcare, Carehomes & Extracare team. Phil commented: “as you would expect I have witnessed a number of changes over the last 40 years at S I Sealy. But there are a couple of things which have remained constant. One is the feeling of being part of a family; and another is that the senior engineers happily give their time to the up-and-coming engineers, coaching and mentoring them. I am proud of our reputation that we produce highly skilled engineers, and the part I have played in securing that reputation.”
Having left school as an apprentice electrician, Steve qualified and then moved into electrical engineering design. Steve joined S I Sealy in 1985 as a senior engineer and moved through the firm before he became one of the Directors of the company in 1997. Steve commented: “I’m not sure where the 30 years have gone. But I do know that during that time we have built a commercially strong practice with an exceptional team of engineers. We have developed a great portfolio of clients, who have engaged us on really interesting projects.”
David Stafford, Steve’s co-Director commented: “it’s a great testament to the culture and approach at S I Sealy that we retain our staff for such impressive periods of time. Having said that, we are incredibly lucky that Steve and Phil are members of our senior management team. They have both contributed greatly to our continued success and growth over the last 40 years.”
