Altrincham Market
Client: Trafford Council & Nick Johnson
Budget: £585K
Completed: 2014
We were appointed by Trafford Council to provide the M&E Design for the refurbishment and enhancement of the Grade II Listed Market House and the attached Covered Market. The objective was to create a flexible environment with a number of different catering operators and a central dining area, which would also be used as a performance and function venue.
We provided expert advice and solutions to the client for the works on the heritage building to ensure the vision for the market was achieved within the budget. Revit software was used to provide 3D visualisation for the client and end-users. The facility benefits from new ‘vintage style’ lighting with a full re-wire, new power supplies to stalls and a wi-fi system.
The mechanical engineering works included the replacement of existing incoming lead water mains and the replacement of existing hot and cold-water supply pipework and associated hot water cylinder. It also featured the replacement and remodelling of internal above ground drainage and provision of ventilation louvres/cowls for others to use as and when required.
The Market won the Observer Food Monthly Best Market award in 2015, 1 year after opening in June 2014.
