Heathlands Village Replacement Heating, Prestwich
We produced an indepth feasibility study for this 180 bed care home, to establish how best to replace the existing dilapidated heating and domestic hot and cold water plant and associated pipework. We also looked at how we could incorporate renewable energy sources. The care home was to remain operational during the works and therefore careful planning was essential for the success of the project.
The project was to decentralise the existing boilerhouse to form three new boilerhouses which serve approximately 130 bedrooms and associated communal areas. 20% of the energy for the three new boilerhouses was generated via solar thermal technology. The refurbishment of the existing boilerhouse was phase 3 of the project. We reviewed the option of utilising either solar thermal or CHP to serve the remaining 50 bedrooms, large kitchen facility and laundry. We acted as contract administrator and project manager.
