We produced a detailed performance specification, room data sheets and outline sketch design to complete the mechanical and electrical works for this 63 bed care home. We were subsequently appointed by the mechanical and electrical contractor to complete the detailed M&E design.
The development, completed on time and on budget in September 2010, was constructed in accordance with the 2006 edition of Part L of the Building Regulations. The BER at 38 was some 15% better than the TER. This was achieved by the use of gas fired modular condensing boilers to provide heating and hot water, heat losses were minimised by the use of low U Values, comfort cooling was minimised by good design thus limiting summertime overheating and creating a highly energy efficient lighting installation.
We also provided the detailed M&E design for phase two of the development, which provides an additional independent living unit. This unit, completed in 2014, includes 18 beds and three day rooms with a standalone boiler and heating system.
