The Science Museum Group has a strong tradition of delivering highly successful, world-renown interactive galleries. We were appointed by the National Science and Media Museum to refurbish an existing experience TV area to create a new science ‘Wonderlab’ to form part of the re-launch for the National Science and Media Museum in Bradford. The objective was to create an engaging, interactive open-plan environment that holds multiple interactive works and installations extending to a 70-capacity event space.
We worked closely with Michael Grubb Studios and Sysco Projections AV design on the lighting design to maintain the look and feel created by AB Rogers Design. The design included the modification of the existing electrical systems, including power and data requirements to suit the new gallery layout.
The mechanical engineering works included the relocation of existing air conditioning and ventilation to suit the new layout whilst providing new air conditioning and ventilation to the new event space along with hot and cold water services to the preparation and exhibit areas.
