Quality Assurance, 25 Years On
December 6th, 2019 marks 25 years since S I Sealy & Associates was awarded the BS 5750 QA standard which introduced a management system to ensure that quality standards were kept consistent across all organisations. Director David Stafford put together the first of the company’s QA systems to be audited against the BS 5750 standard. We became one of the first Building Services Engineering Consultancies in the United Kingdom to achieve the quality standard in December 1994. Since then, every year we have progressed and refined the systems to improve consistency and provide clients with excellent design services. We are currently certified to the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management standard.
Integrated Management System
In 2015 we established and implemented an Integrated Management System (IMS) which incorporates ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management, ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management and OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety Management. This provides our clients with an integrated service to check that all standards are met and to enhance our customer satisfaction through the effective application of documented procedures.
Our core values to deliver quality, reliability, efficiency and safety are achieved using this Integrated Management System (IMS) where collaborative working is promoted, and a Continual Assessment of risks and opportunities are implemented.
Digital Engineering
From these standards, it has allowed us to fully incorporate Digital Design into our QA Design process. 25 years on we became the first UK MEP Consultancy to achieve the BIM Certification ISO 19650 accreditation in March 2019.
Digital Engineering provides us with a true platform for real collaboration between the whole Design Team, Contractors and Clients and with the use of BIM, 3D Modelling and Simulation. It enables our clients and stakeholders to really visualise their projects. We have invested in MagiCAD which works in conjunction with REVIT and allows our engineers to be able to undertake MEP design in a 3D environment. We have also invested recently in 3D surveying equipment to allow our engineers to quickly capture a building or construction site in full 3D to create an immersive “VR” environment accessible to all team members via a bespoke online platform.
All this allows us to be uniquely placed to deliver true digital engineering whilst delivering Innovative low carbon Building Services Design Solutions.
