S I Sealy Celebrates 70 Years
This year we celebrate our 70th anniversary.
Founded in 1949 by Sidney Inwood Sealy, we have grown into one of the foremost, and most respected, Building Services Engineering Consultancies in the North of England. With over 25 Mechanical & Electrical design engineers, we are one of the largest specialist M&E design consultancies in the Northwest.
Our early projects included the John Dalton Building; Aytoun Building; and the iconic Domestic & Trades College in Manchester, affectionately called “The Toast Rack” by local residents.
Recent commissions include: the £30m refurbishment of the Grade I listed, iconic Elizabeth Tower which houses Big Ben; the newly completed, award-winning Radius Campus for Pochin Developments; the new Headquarters for Stockport Homes which was shortlisted for BCO Northern Workplace of the Year; the £120m BREEAM Outstanding, Headquarters for The Co-Operative Group; and the £13m refurbishment and extension of Newcastle High School for Girls which received Newcastle Lord Mayor’s Special Award 2017 and was Shortlisted for the 2017 North East Property Awards “Refurbishment of the Year”.
Reaching our 70 year anniversary is a real accolade. We believe our success is due to our approach of continually innovating, as well as nurturing and developing our highly skilled and experienced engineers.
Recent innovations include our drive towards real Digital Design Engineering; as well as the development of our in-house Building & Energy Modelling Team who advise our engineers on how best to reduce clients’ energy usage and carbon emissions; and our development of 3D surveys, which we show clients within a virtual reality environment.
