The full planning application has been submitted for this exciting regeneration project. The £33million regeneration project, which sits alongside the Leeds-Liverpool canal, includes community-led housing, with a mix of affordable homes for families, shared ownership and extra-care accommodation. SAFE Regeneration will provide a range of creative activities and services for the new neighbourhood and the scheme includes plans for both ground source heating and solar photovoltaics, meeting an estimated 99% of the site’s energy requirements along with a 15-20% reduction of energy bills for residents.
The development includes the refurbishment of the Lock & Quay, the City region’s only community pub, as well as new work units, leisure facilities, a canal-side eatery, guest accommodation, boat moorings and water-based heritage tours of the canal.
The development has received over £700,000 worth of funding support from Power to Change, Homes England Community-led Housing pot and the Liverpool City Region Combined Authorities Special Investment Fund, with the full support of Sefton Council, to take this project to full planning.
The team was appointed through the Construction Impact Framework, and other team members include: Ellis Williams Architects, Cost Consultants RLB, Structural Engineers Clancy Consulting and BCA Landscape Architects.
