Technical Director Matthew Pickford celebrates 20 years at S I Sealy
Congratulations to our Technical Director, Matthew Pickford, who celebrates 20 years at S I Sealy today.
Matthew started life at S I Sealy as a UMIST undergraduate, working on summer placements back in 1999 and 2000. He impressed us so much that after graduating with a BEng (Hons) degree in Building Service Engineering in 2001 he was offered full-time employment. During his 20 years, Matthew has progressed through all ranks, laterly being promoted to the role of Technical Director in 2019 together with being our Building & Energy Modelling sector lead.
Matthew’s passion for improving energy performance in new and existing buildings led him to become a CIBSE Low Carbon Consultant and CIBSE Low Carbon Energy Assessor in 2007. He has worked on many low carbon developments over the years, such as the £33m #destinationbootle development, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust Low Carbon Skills Fund and the £50m Stoke Extracare PFI Projects (Maple West, Oak Priory & Willow Barns), which resulted in a 40% carbon reduction across the three new-build extra care homes.
Matthew has developed strong relationships with many clients throughout his time here and worked on a range of high-profile projects, such as Paul Smith’s flagship store and iconic office in Albemarle Street, Mayfair, the refurbishment of the Corn Exchange in Manchester city centre and delivered over 300 JD Group stores throughout the UK and Europe. His commitment and enthusiasm continue to make a tremendous impact on his projects, his clients and his team members.
Congratulations to Matthew on this amazing achievement!
